Material provision
TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) is generally used as the material. The granulate, which is delivered as bagged goods or in large quantities in big bags on pallets, is fed to the feed hopper of an injection moulding machine via suction lines.
Material preparation
The granulate is melted in the barrel of the injection unit, which is heated by heating belts, homogenised by the rotary movement of the screw and conveyed towards the injection nozzle.
Injection process
The molten and viscous TPE is injected into the injection mould under pressure. To do this, the screw performs a rapid forward movement and presses the material previously conveyed in front of the tip of the screw through the injection nozzle and the distribution channels into the cavities of the cooled multi-cavity mould.
Cooling and curing
The material cools down and becomes solid again in the closed multiple injection mould, which is equipped with a cooling water circuit. This gives the injection moulded part its final shape and stability.
Demoulding
Once the moulded part has cooled sufficiently and become dimensionally stable, the mould opens, the finished cap with the pull-off tab is automatically stripped from the core, falls onto a conveyor belt and is temporarily stored in collecting containers until quality inspection. After demoulding, the manufacturing process described above is repeated.
Inspection and packaging
The caps produced are randomly checked, packaged and prepared for dispatch.
