Protective elements for the electrical industry

The various caps from HAMCO are particularly popular in the electrical industry. They are used as protective elements for contacts and circuit boards or as transport protection. They are also frequently used as dust protection caps, for example on LEDs.

Dust caps for LEDs serve several important purposes:

Advantages of plastic parts in the electrical industry

Injection-moulded plastic parts enable the electrical industry to manufacture safe, lightweight and functional components that meet the high requirements for precision, protection and fire safety. PVC moulded parts also have a wide range of applications in the electrical industry, as they have good electrical insulation properties and are resistant to many aggressive chemicals.

Insulation and protection

One of the main purposes of plastic parts is the electrical insulation and protection of components. The plastic parts have an insulating effect to protect against electric shocks in the event of contact. Mechanical protection for sensitive electronic components is also provided by PVC caps, for example.

Housing and panelling

Injection moulded parts are often used as housings and covers for electronic devices and components. These housings protect the electronics from environmental influences and ensure an attractive design.

Chemical resistance

PVC dip coatings are resistant to most acids, alkalis, salt solutions and degreasing and cleaning agents.

Versatile coating

PVC dip coatings are mainly used to coat metal parts. They offer protection against heavy mechanical and chemical stress. The dip coatings can be produced in different colours, gloss levels and surface structures, which allows them to be adapted to specific requirements.

Fire protection

Many plastic parts for the electrical industry are specially manufactured with fire protection properties. They are halogen-free, low-smoke and have a high level of fire protection to increase safety in the event of a fire.

Precision parts

Injection moulding technology enables the production of precision parts with tight tolerances, which is important for many electronic applications. Complex geometries and fine details can be manufactured with precision.

Integration of functions

Using techniques such as 2K injection moulding, different materials or functions can be combined in one component. For example, seals or conductive elements can be integrated directly.

Weight reduction

Plastic parts often offer a lighter alternative to metal components, which is particularly advantageous in electromobility.
