Exercise makes you thin
Wallpaper paste and ketchup - two typically thixotropic liquids. If you leave them alone, they are immobile and inert. Only movement, such as stirring the paste in the bucket or shaking the ketchup bottle, changes their almost human characteristics. The wallpaper paste can be spread effortlessly on the wallpaper by moving the brush, but does not run down when the wallpaper is applied; instead, like the ketchup, which literally sloshes out of the bottle, it quickly becomes accustomed to the comfort of remaining in place; figuratively speaking, they become sluggish and thick again.
In plastics technology, this thixotropic behaviour is worth its weight in gold. Plastic melts and dipping pastes flow during processing and remain solid after the work is done. It is the movement that makes them thin.
