Toolmaking

Toolmaking for plastics manufacturing

Moulds are a crucial component of reliable and reproducible plastics manufacturing. HAMCO has its own mould-making facility and manufactures the moulds required for its own production of dip-coated and injection-moulded parts, as well as jigs for the coating of metal components.

Existing tools for catalogue products

HAMCO already has the appropriate tools for all the products in the catalogue. This means that these products can be manufactured to specification without the customer having to make any additional investment in tools.

This is particularly useful when a catalogue part that has already been used is required again without any changes.

Customised tools for bespoke components

For bespoke components, HAMCO designs and manufactures the tools required for its own production, tailored to the specific component geometry and the intended manufacturing process.

Practical experience gained during production is already incorporated into the tool design. This enables the tools to be specifically designed to ensure the reliable and reproducible manufacture of the component in question.

The suitability of a particular manufacturing solution for a bespoke component is assessed as early as the technical review of the project brief. You can find out more about working with us to develop a suitable manufacturing solution at Plastic solutions.

Toolmaking for various manufacturing processes

Immersion cores for immersion-moulded parts

HAMCO manufactures the required dip moulds and tools in-house for the production of dip-moulded parts. The geometry of the mould core plays a decisive role in determining the component’s subsequent internal contour. During the design process, therefore, the requirements of the moulding process and subsequent demoulding are taken into account alongside the desired dimensions.

You can find out more about the manufacture of dip-moulded parts on our page on Immersion process.

Injection moulds for plastic parts

For bespoke injection-moulded parts, HAMCO manufactures the necessary injection moulds for its own production. The design is tailored to the component geometry, the plastic used and the requirements of the manufacturing process.

By directly linking toolmaking and injection moulding, practical manufacturing requirements can be taken into account right from the tool design stage.

You can find out more about the manufacture of injection-moulded parts on our page on Injection moulding.

Fixture design for coating processes

For the coating of metal components, HAMCO manufactures bespoke fixtures and workpiece holders that are tailored to the specific component geometry and the coating process.

They ensure that workpieces are securely positioned during coating and can be designed to allow several components to be processed efficiently in a single operation.

You can find out more about the process on our page about the PVC coating process.

In-house design and manufacture

From design right through to the manufacture of tool components, the key stages of the process are carried out in-house at HAMCO. This enables toolmaking and production to be co-ordinated directly with one another.

CNC machining centres are available for precision machining.

Manufacturing expertise for reliable processes

In-house tool and jig manufacturing is not a separate business division at HAMCO, but rather an important part of the company’s manufacturing expertise. It enables tools and jigs to be specifically tailored to the respective components and manufacturing processes.
