Immersion parts

Soft PVC diving equipment – versatile, flexible and customisable

If a plastic component needs to be flexible, have a certain level of grip, or fit an existing shape precisely, a dip-moulded part is an attractive solution. HAMCO offers an extensive range of dip-moulded parts made from soft PVC – from tried-and-tested standard solutions to custom-made dip-moulded parts.

PVC-dipped parts are used in applications where components need to be protected, covered, sealed, sheathed or made non-slip. The HAMCO-Product range for dip-coated parts includes a wide range of standard versions in various shapes and dimensions. You will find technical drawings and dimension tables for the standard versions in the relevant product section

If the required solution is not available in our standard range, HAMCO manufactures dip-coated parts to drawings, samples or specific technical requirements.

For protection, coverage, handling and function

Immersion-moulded parts have a wide range of applications. Soft PVC is particularly suitable for applications where flexibility, grip, protection, easy assembly and a secure, tamper-proof fit are required.

Diving equipment can, for example,

  • protect and seal open pipes and the ends of profiles,
  • cover sharp edges and delicate surfaces,
  • Protect cables and wires,
  • insulate electrical components,
  • serve as flexible grip elements,
  • be used as a cover or a functional component.
Submerged parts from basins

Flexible soft PVC for a range of applications

The properties required of a moulded part depend on its intended function. Under the Covytec® brand, HAMCO processes various types of PVC, which are available to meet different requirements in terms of flexibility, hardness, feel and durability.

Depending on the application, properties such as flexibility, grip, damping, abrasion resistance, electrical insulation, and resistance to UV light and weathering may be of primary importance. Special material properties, such as ESD capability or detectability, are also available for suitable applications.

The Shore hardness This has a significant influence on the behaviour of the submerged part. Depending on the design, the material can be made flexible and easily deformable, or comparatively dimensionally stable. This allows the choice of material to be specifically tailored to the function and the stresses to which the component is subjected.

The visual design can also be taken into account. In addition to various standard colours, custom colours are available. Provided the component geometry is suitable, the dip-coated part can also be printed on.

Standard submersible parts: find the right solution quickly

A large proportion of the HAMCO range consists of standardised submersible components for which tools are already available. This enables rapid and cost-effective production when an existing standard design meets the requirements of the application.

The standard products are available in a wide range of designs and are supplied in the HAMCO product range presented with technical drawings and dimensional tables. This enables designers and procurement staff to select the appropriate version based on the available component dimensions and design specifications.

Samples can also be provided for many standard sizes. This allows you to check, before placing an order, whether the dimensions, fit and material are suitable for the intended application.

Custom-made moulded parts based on drawings or samples

If a standard design is not suitable, HAMCO tailors the design to the specific application and manufactures the bespoke immersion component.

The geometry, dimensions, material hardness, colour and other material properties can be tailored to the specific application. This can be based on a technical drawing, CAD data, a sample or even a detailed description of the desired function.

Special geometries or additional functional features can also be taken into account in this way. This results in moulded parts that not only fit in terms of their dimensions, but are also specifically tailored to their intended function.

Diving equipment for various sectors

The combination of flexible soft PVC, different material variants and a wide range of geometries makes moulded parts an attractive option for numerous technical applications.

Depending on the specific design, they are used in a range of sectors, including mechanical and plant engineering, electrical and cable technology, the automotive sector and the skilled trades. For applications where specific requirements apply to the material used, HAMCO also processes FDA-compliant Covytec® formulations. This means that dip-moulded parts can also be manufactured for applications where FDA-compliant formulations are required for the US market.

Diving components can be tailored to the specific application, not only in terms of their shape and dimensions, but also in terms of their material properties.

Immersion parts tool

Standard or bespoke solution

If an existing standard sub-assembly meets the requirements, HAMCO can make use of the existing tooling and manufacture the appropriate product from its existing range.

If standard geometries are not suitable, HAMCO manufactures bespoke dip-coated parts to drawings, samples or specific requirements. Dimensions, geometry, material properties and colour can be tailored to the specific application.

The focus here is not on the manufacturing process, but on the question:

What function is the submersible unit intended to perform in your application?

The appropriate design is determined on the basis of this requirement.

How are die-cast parts manufactured?

At HAMCO, dip-moulded parts are produced from soft PVC using the dip-moulding process. This involves immersing a suitably shaped moulding core into liquid PVC. The material is then heated, causing it to gel and form the wall of the PVC dip-moulded part.
On our knowledge page on [...], we explain in detail which factors influence wall thickness, why it is not completely uniform throughout immersed parts, and what possibilities and limitations the process offers. Immersion process.
